NezT Labs: Offline First Field Inspection App
NezT Labs (in-house concept build) · iOS & Android Apps · 2026
An in-house concept build: a mobile app for inspectors, surveyors and maintenance crews who work where the signal drops, such as construction sites, factories, warehouses and rural infrastructure.
What it does
Every checklist answer, photo and signature is saved to an on-device SQLite database first, so the app behaves the same with or without signal.
A background sync queue uploads changes the moment a connection returns, with field level conflict resolution so two inspectors never overwrite each other.
Photos are compressed, GPS tagged and time stamped on the device, then uploaded in resumable chunks that survive the app being closed.
Supervisors see results on a live dashboard as each phone syncs, and a signed PDF report is generated on the server.
Engineering notes
Sync is built on change sets with server timestamps and soft deletes, and is tested against airplane mode, force quits, low storage and clock drift.
Background work uses BGTaskScheduler on iOS and WorkManager on Android, so uploads finish without the user keeping the app open.
Role based access: inspectors see their assigned sites, supervisors see their region, admins see everything.
Tech stack
React Native, TypeScript, WatermelonDB (SQLite), Supabase (Postgres, Auth, Storage), BGTaskScheduler, WorkManager
Impact
Designed so field teams never lose a record to a bad connection, and reports reach the office the moment a phone reconnects.
