NezT Labs: Battery Aware Delivery Rider App
NezT Labs (in-house concept build) · iOS & Android Apps · 2026
An in-house concept build: a rider app and dispatcher console for food, grocery and parcel delivery, built to track a full shift without draining the rider's phone.
What it does
Adaptive location tracking samples often while the rider is moving fast and backs off when they are stopped or walking, using the phone's activity recognition.
Dispatchers see every rider and drop on a live map, updated over WebSockets rather than repeated polling.
Multi drop routes are ordered automatically, and riders can reorder stops with one drag.
Proof of delivery with a photo, a one time code from the customer, or a signature, all queued offline and synced later if the signal drops.
Engineering notes
Location runs through Core Location on iOS and the Fused Location Provider on Android, with foreground service rules respected so the operating system does not kill tracking.
Geospatial queries such as nearest available rider and zone checks run in PostGIS.
Push notifications for new jobs go through APNs and Firebase Cloud Messaging with a fallback to in-app polling.
Tech stack
Flutter, Dart, Mapbox, Node.js, Socket.IO, Redis, PostgreSQL with PostGIS, Firebase Cloud Messaging, APNs
Impact
Designed so dispatchers see every drop in real time while riders get through a full shift on one charge.
